On deplaning in Cairo, we met a smiling round Egyptian in a professional suit holding a yellow sign with the logo of “All One World Egypt Tours”.

He introduced himself as Amir from American Express, then whisked us past the long lines to a creepy looking, bored man who looked at our passports and waved us past.

After he retrieved our bags for us we followed him out into the thick Cairo night air.

He escorted us to a small van and we plunged headlong into the busy Cairo streets. Amir pointed out the sights zipping by while the driver, blissfully ignoring lane markers and traffic signals in the famously chaotic Egyptian traffic.

Janice brilliantly observed that the cars and trucks moved like fishes as they wove around. Most of the city night-drives with their headlights off, only using them to flash into the oncoming hoards.

Our hour long drive brought us to the Sofitel Le Sphinx in Giza (right next to the Great Pyramid). Amir whisked us past the armed guards and metal detectors then got us all checked in.

After flying almost halfway around the world, we crashed into our beds and slept for many hours.
